Functional 3D-printed Ceramics

Oliver van Herpt graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven. He is interested in using new technologies for creating highly crafted artefacts and simultaneously innovating the making process.

Van Herpt developed a 3D printer whose workings are visible and accessible. His research and development in 3D printing technology result in machines that can produce larger forms and use materials other than plastics.

This series of vases are 3D printed in clay using a machine Van Herpt developed. They embody an aesthetic that is reminiscent of sedimentary rocks, thus attaining a timeless quality.  

By pushing the limits of existing 3D printing technologies, Van Herpt wants to open up the production process and create a platform for creative exploration.
