Façade

Jurjen Versteeg and Ashley Govers graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy, Versteeg in Audio-visual Design and Govers in Interior Design. Their studio practice encompasses printing, spatial design, and film.

On a research trip to Berlin Versteeg and Govers explored new materials and techniques, which led to a series of geometrical scale models inspired by the city and the Bauhaus.

Façade is a mirror, an ode to the arched façades found throughout Berlin. In the studio, they experimented with brass and its visual characteristics such as its texture and colour. By oxidising the outer surface of the arch, a bright green texture creates a vivid contrast to the smooth, shiny golden brass.
